Well looks like I missed a couple of days of my project a day for the month of October!  Oh well, I'm human!  Maybe this weekend I'll make it up!  You'll just have to stay tuned...

Tip ~If you don't have a gypsy or you are unable to use the hide feature on an image.   I learned this from Erin at erin lee creative,  cut the base layer 2 times once in the color that you like and one for the skin tone you like.  Then cut the "skin" one so you have a face to stamp on.

 My project is a candy jar that's been glass etched.  I saw some similar in a Ballard Design catalog.  Well they must be the in thing, because I wanted to post a picture of the inspiration and there isn't one to be found on the web!

No 2 ~ is etched

start with a plain glass jar,

hyphen cut at 1.55 x 2.22

2 cut at 2.39 x 6.77

using cricut vinyl

when cut pluck out the part that you would normally use, and throw away

add transfer paper so you don't lose any small pieces

carefully remove vinyl and transfer tape from the mat, then carefully adhere to glass.  rub all over.  carefully remove transfer paper, without removing the vinyl from the glass.  burnish all edges down so the etching cream doesn't seep underneath.

apply etching cream really thick.  I like to dab rather than brush, I've noticed in the past, that if I brush it tends to leave brush marks.  After 5 minutes you can wash it off.  I've done quite a few etching projects and something happened this time that's never happened before.  When washing the cream off, the vinyl lifted in two place.  I didn't think much of it but after I dried it and removed the vinyl the cream had seeped under it.  Even though it was watered down it still etched the glass.  If you see the water lifting it, I think it may be wise to wash fast and remove vinyl once all the cream is gone.  Instead of drying it then taking the vinyl off.

Scrappy Mom's Stamps Day 6 of Sneak Peak Week!

Wow!  I just saw that I have over 400 followers...thank you!  This blog has been alot of fun to do, and I have learned so much from all of you too.  My hope is that I can keep it interesting for you to keep coming back!  If your new to me be sure to leave me a comment with your blog address so I can see (stalk) you too!  :) 

Here's a project, not a card that I made using the Scrappy Mom's Stamps newest set ~ A Pinch & A Dash.  I added a bag of coffee beans but you could insert a "gift card" in it too!

Recipe:

Winter Frolic

cup shadow cut and weld at 4.29 x 4.86

in between the two cups I welded a rectangle at 1.02 x 2.30

when welded the 2 cups and rectangle should measure 4.30 x 10.77

cup and layers to match cut at 4.05 x 4.86

Scrappy Mom's Stamps Day 5 of Sneak Peak Week!

I hope your day was a good one!  Sorry to get this post out so late, had a few technical issues, too long and boring to go into!  Anyway today is day 5 of Scrappy Mom's Stamps sneak peak week...the week is almost over, it's gone by so quick!  I hope you've had as much fun looking at everyone on the DT blogs as I've had, there have been alot of creative ideas!

Now for my card...please be kind...this didn't quite turn out the way I wanted.  I love my little lettuce heads, but I got somewhat carried away with my white pen...blame it on the flu!
