It's A Wedding!

Happy Friday!  This week has gone by so fast for me...how about you?

First of all I'd like to start by saying, thank you in advance for indulging my with these pictures of my daughter's wedding!

For the invitation I wanted to have something hold all the pieces together (RSVP card, return envelope, etc...) yet wasn't sure what.  The ceremony and reception was being held in a building that was very rustic and over 155 years old, she wanted something vintage yet simple.  So I added the Stitched Heart Layering Dies and shiny key from Chunky Jar Accessories dies and tied everything together with purple hemp.  Oh, I need to thank my friend Kim for sending me the wonderful shiny chrome paper!  She didn't know I was going to use it for this, but it worked fabbie with it!

Later I found out that some people that received the invitations didn't realize that there were response cards because they didn't want to take it apart.  Something to think about for DD#2's wedding  :)

My husband made several easels, however he wasn't happy with the top so we added small pinwheels to cover up what he didn't like.  My daughter liked the big pinwheels that we did at her shower that she wanted them for the backdrop of their ceremony.  I think we made over 60 of them for it.  Yikes!  Again we used the Stitched Doily Die, Scallop and Stitched Circle dies to hold them together.  No two were alike!  Just like her bridesmaid's dresses she didn't want anything too matchy matchy.

My father in law married them, so that made it really special!  I always find it a bit awkward when the officiant doesn't know much about the couple.

This is the outside of the building, as much as we need rain in California, I was so thankful for the sunny day in January, however it was still chilly.

I'm not sure what happened but I never got a picture of all the place cards we made.  This is the one I made for my daughter, that's why it only has an "a".  In the picture below, you can see the back of another one.  We used the Stitched Lollipop Holder die, small Scallop Stitched Rosette Die, Vintage Stitched Label die for the banner, and on bride and groom's used their initial from Lowercase Fun Letters dies.

The kids didn't get place cards because they received an "activity book" with a small box of crayons, made using the Treat Slider Box die, Rolled Flowers Die, Chunky Jar Accessories dies for the tag, and stamped with "a little something just for you" sentiment from Teeny Tag Holidays stamp set.

I'm not sure if you noticed that all the fonts on the signs at the shower and the wedding were the same from the invitation.  When doing an event that you don't want matchy matchy, you do need to keep some continuity.  One way is with color, theme and fonts, like the table numbers which were cut using Stitched XL Label die and XL Label Die.  One was on each side of the handle so the number could be seen from any direction.

You can sort of see in this picture another place card (purple), we had use different colors so the caterer would know what meal each guest was receiving.  With four different plated meals it added more color to the tables!

I just had to share pictures from the photo booth of my husband and my younger daughter. :)

And this last photo is of pooped out, parents of the bride!  lol!  We LOVED every minute of it!

Hope you can glean some ideas for an event you're having!  Remember these ideas can be used for any gathering!  Stamps and dies from My Creative Time can add the perfect touch of handmade without looking too DIY! lol!

It's A Shower!

Hi paper lovin' friends!  Today I'm finally going to share with you pictures and projects from my daughter's wedding shower.  Sorry it's taken so long to get to it!  Since there are a lot of pictures I'm not going to do a ton of chatting.  However I do want to let you know that it didn't take a bunch of stamps or dies ( all are My Creative Time stamps and dies) to create a pretty and whimsical event!

The theme was umbrellas and pinwheels, which made it easy to do!

I made my "infamous" English Toffee for her :)   I've posted the recipe in the past, you can use the search to locate it if you'd like.

The pinwheels were held together using Scallop and Stitched Circle die or Stitched Doily die.  Some were stamped with the umbrella from All Around Everything Accessories stamp set.

Two of her aunties and honorary auntie (my best friend) threw her the shower!  She is blessed to have many wonderful women in her life!

The cake designer that made her wedding cake made the grey cake filled with strawberry shortcake.  Then I made the cupcakes ( tiramisu, champagne cake with almond cream filling, and chocolate cake with Kahlua filling) they were sooo good!  One of my sister's in law made a wonderful Butternut Squash Soup and Chicken Salad on Croissants!  oh my, I getting hungry thinking about it :)

We had and Italian Soda Bar that was really fun and different.  Most of the guest hadn't ever had it before.

We simply added the banner Vintage Stitched Label die to some paper straws, the guests then wrote their name on it.  Cute way to not lose your drink! ;)

We carried the same umbrella stamp and die as the pinwheels through out.

Then for the "thank you favors", we made a sugar scrub (found the recipe on pinterest).  They were scented with lavender or peppermint oil...not everyone likes floral scents so the peppermint was the perfect alternative.

And again using the umbrella stamp and Scallop and Stitched Circle dies for the favors.  Then added the tag from Chunky Jar Accessories Stamp and Diess and the "many thanks" sentiment from Teeny Tag Greetings stamp set.

This is the banner that was hung up on the mirrors for the candy buffet.   The sentiment is from I'm Here For You Rain Or Shine Stamp Set and the umbrella die is named Stitched Umbrella die!

I hope you can get some ideas for your own event!  I will post the wedding projects by next week.  Then the wedding "chatter" should be finished!  :)  Well at least until the next daughter gets married!  lol!

Have a beautiful rest of the week!
