We're Blog Hoppin' with Nicole at CNS!

Welcome everyone!
We're having a Blog Hop today and showcasing some of our favorite techniques.  Some of the girls are even giving away some blog candy!  I'll try to do it next time- just had two trips back to back...I'm on overload, overload ;o)  If you’re just arriving please start with Nicole at Canadian Nickel Scrapn  and hop your way through all the great blogs.  You should have gotten here from Jessica at Kinderstampo.  Your next stop after me, should be Mari at Made By Momo, she'll let you know where to go next.  I hope you get a chance to hop along and see all the great techniques we're sharing!  Don't forget to leave some blog love too!

Here's my project...sometime back I went Solana Beach near San Diego and saw some pillows that were silk screened with monograms, numbers, "paris", etc..  They were super expensive...everything I liked was! ;o)  I remember thinking "I can make these!"  so here's my take on it

Recipe:
Burlap, Muslin, Stuffing, Provo Craft Vinyl, Acrylic Paint, Decorative Cording

1. cut fabric (burlap) to desired size for pillow
2. cut vinyl to same size as fabric or to the size of the image, leaving extra space between the image and the edge of the vinyl in all directions.
3.  place vinyl on cricut mat, vinyl side up
4. start cutting blade so that the image will be centered on the vinyl - this in not the time to be concerned about wasting vinyl - there will be some wasted, in fact it's neccessary!
5.  carefully take the part of the cut image that would normally be thrown away off the cutting mat and place in the center of the fabric, save the inside image for something else.
6.  carefully burnish (rub) the edges down on the fabric - spend some time doing this, especially on burlap so paint doesn't seep through.
7.  with a stiff brush dip into a small amount of paint -start paint brush on the vinyl moving towards the fabric, never start on fabric going to the vinyl, paint might seep underneath.
8.  when almost dry, carefully remove vinyl - your image should have real crisp edges.
9. cut 2 pieces of muslin the same size as the first piece.
10.  place one piece of muslin on both sides of burlap with decorative cord in between painted side of burlap and muslin.
11.  sew together on 3 1/2 sides, turn right sideout, stuff, the hand sew closed.

Now, remember to start with Nicole, and hop along!  Next stop from here is  Mari!

Have a creative weekend and enjoy!

Wow!  I've had a really busy week so I haven't been around here for a few days!  And my oh my alot of things are going on!  Lot's of postings (that I haven't been able to read), there's something coming up  that I don't think I'm suppose to talk about yet (aren't I terrible),  and then this award (that is totally undeserving) from Melanie at Scrappy Mel. And speaking about alot happening, she has just come out with a new line of clear stamps, that are sentiments that coordinate perfectly with some of the cricut cartridges.  I'm not sure where I was when she posted that they were ready to purchase, but somehow I missed it.  But not for long, I will be buying them, then they'll soon be in my "paper loft"!   Click here to see her first set.

Now I need to give this award to 5 worthy girls!  This is so hard, you are so talented!  But here goes...

1. Carolyn at The Scrap Avenue
3. Lauren at Oh Scraap!
4. Monique at Monkey Doodle Cricut
5. Amy at Scrapping Mommy

All of these women have awesome ideas, please go check out their blogs if haven't heard about them...which is highly unlikely!

Now I'm off to go camping!  I can't wait to see what everyone will have created, while I'm gone!  See you in a few days!

Graduation Card

Hi!

I hope you're enjoying your Saturday!  I'm cleaning, crafting and getting ready for a grad party (not necessarily in that order) Finally our weather here is beautiful, nice day to be outside!  This is when I really wish I had a gypsy!

Here is the card I made for the young man's party that I'm going to today!  It's really a card/envelope all in one.  The card is cut from Wild Card on blackout, then I glued the sides to make a pocket.  Super Simple!

Cricut Cartridges:  Wildcard & Plantin School
Paper:  Bazzill & DCWV
Ribbon: Papertrey Ink
Brad & White Pen

Throwback Thursday Challenge at My Creative Time with Emma

Hi Everyone!

I see that I have some new followers...thank you!  I hope that I'm able to keep you interested in coming back!  I would love to be able to see your blog too, so leave me a comment with your blog, so I can take a peak!  I have so much going on in my life right now, a few challenges that I'd like to do.  Have to finish 50 baby shower invitations by Sunday.  Graduation parties!  Oh and the biggest news of all  my oldest daughter is graduating from UCSD in a week...so that means a trip to San Diego...oh the things we do for our children...travel to a great place where the weather is usually perfect! ;o)  Oh wait I have bigger news...she had decided to stay there, so I don't have to give up my "paper loft"!  I'm grateful that the hard work I put in as a mother has paid off and I have an independant daughter, who wants to try to make it on her own even though she still has to get her Master's to get her "real job"!

Ok enough of my life... Emma at My Creative Time is having a challenge called "Throwback Thursday"  this weeks theme is using Animal Kingdom cartridge (if you don't have it, then it just has to be an animal).  I don't have that cart so I used Doodlecharms for the animal and shell and Stretch your Imagination for the leaves.

Recipe:

Cricut Cartridges: Doodlecharms, Stretch your Imagination
Paper:  Bazzill, Making Memoriest
Punches: Stampin Up, Martha Stewart
Stickles, Frost White Ink Paint, Silver Cord, pop dots

Enjoy!
