Thrifty Thursday ~ Congrats Card and more!

Hello paper peeps and happy Thursday!  I'm very excited to share with you a new segment for My Creative Time...Thrifty Thursday!  On the days that's not a Designer Challenge, Emma will be rotating different themes for the off Thursday's.  So what does Thrifty Thursday mean?  Glad you asked!  We have to make a card or a layout using only scraps.  Of course the base for either doesn't have to be.

This is what I started with.  When ever I cut something and the paper isn't quite right for the project I'm working on, I never throw them away.  So you can see the heart is already cut from another project.

And here is the finished card...I don't think it looks like a card of scraps!  Do you?

Look how much I have left over still!  I think I feel another card coming on!  lol!

I have recently cut back on the amount of Design Teams I'm on.  I have really enjoyed being on all the different teams and getting to know really great people!  However I'm super excited to be able to devote myself to My Creative Time and my own Boutique!  And with my new found freedom, I plan on playing in different challenges and doing some redecorating at home!  Yes, I will be sharing these projects with you too.  So if you have just recently became a follower, I hope you aren't disappointed that I won't only have paper projects.

Enjoy!

Sweet Wishes ~ Birthday Card!

Good Morning my paper loving friends!  Today I have a couple of things to share with you.  I have a birthday card filled with lots of embellishment and something on a more personal note.

This is a card I made for my niece for her 18th birthday!
(sorry for the bad lighting, it's been gloomy around here)

For the easel card base I use a pre-made card from Jinger Adams Designs.
I made some changes to the pre-made rosette.  It came with a brad, but wanted a button instead.  So next time you reach for your embellishments, you may just want to customize them!

The butterflies are made from wood, I colored them with copics, then used glossy accents to make them shine!  The "h and b" were cut two times, once in chipboard and then in paper.  Added some more glossy accents.  I'm really in a glossy accents kind of mood!  :)  Lastly I attached them to washi tape banners.

This card is more than a birthday card...it was a "keep my mind off things card".  Sometimes with the new year come changes, some small and some big.  Well that's what happened to me this weekend!  You see very early Saturday morning, my husband and I took our youngest daughter to the airport so she could go to college...2400 miles away!  She only got accepted this past Wednesday and was on a plane 3 days later.  It took me about 3 hours to make this card, I never spend that much time on a card.  This day of crafting was about the process and not about the product!

In between crying and hugging we took a few pictures at the airport.  She told me I couldn't post them on Facebook, however she never mentioned my blog!

I told her she didnt' have to go but she was determined!  She wanted to make sure that when she landed in Nashville, that everyone knew she was a 49er fan and not a Titans fan!  lol!

Thank you for indulging me with some family pictures!

Isn't that so cool how it's a reflection!  I'm really lovin' this technique!

Now that I see the pictures here, I think I should have added a bit of stickles or fine glitter to the falling snow on the the top one!  :)  Can you believe I didn't think of the bling before?!

My Creative Time's Scrapping the Little Things!

Hello Everyone and happy Monday to you!  This will be the first of two posts I have for you today!  That's right, TWO!  I don't know about you, but I feel like I'm never caught up with my scrapbooking!  I know that we aren't suppose to say that, "caught up".  But it's hard to change that thinking when that's how I was taught...chronological.  However that is what's so great about this new feature that Emma has created with "Scrapping the Little Things".  When using Project Life, Simple Stories, or just a Smashbook, you can just do a layout with the people you love, or anything you want!  The new philosophy is just do the people...don't worry about the events!  And using My Creative Time's Just Simply Live stamp and die set make even easier!

So here is my layout...it really took me no time at all!

I colored the butterflies with copic markers then sprayed with Mr Huey shine.  It's hard to see in the picture but it just gives it a pearl glimmer!
