Newton's Nook Designs ~ fin-tastic birthday!

Good morning!  I can't believe today is my last day as Newton's Nook Designs August Guest Designer.  This month sure went by fast!  I want to thank Jennifer for giving me the opportunity to play and create with her fun stamps!

I don't why but this sweet mermaid from Mermaid Crossing Stamp set was screaming "gold fish" crackers...so I created this fun treat holder.

After stamping the mermaid and other images, I colored them with copic markers then added a bit of wink of stella for more interest.  This project did not take a whole lot of time to put together, so making several of these as favors wouldn't be that big of a deal.

MCT What a Treat Wednesday ~ for you!

Hey hey hey it's What a Treat Wednesday over at My Creative Time!  I love it when I'm scheduled for "what a treat" day, since it gets me to think of new ways to create little "favor/gifts" for someone.  It's also fun to see what the other girls have come up with...let me tell you, some of the girls are just MASTERS in this area!

My project today is a fun little bag filled with strawberry candies...so of course I had to add strawberries to the bag.  The first thing I did was randomly stamp the image then color with copic markers.  I should say I quickly colored the images, as you can see I wasn't overly careful with my coloring.  I assure you that in person you can hardly notice I went out of the lines.  Once it was complete I ran it through my Big Shot with the "swiss dot" folder.

Newton's Nook Designs ~ starfish wishes!

Good morning and happy Monday, I hope that it's a good day for you!  Today I get to share another project using Newton's Nook Designs Stamp as their August Guest Designer.

This Tranquil Tides stamp set is making me wish that summer isn't ending soon!  Last week I got to spend the day beach relaxing with family and friends, cooking hot dogs and s'mores.  Isn't that what a long day of summer is about, family, fun, and food!

To create this card I stamped two of the starfish on the green circle with versamark ink.  Then randomly stamped the different critters and bubbles on the white circle.  Don't you love that little crab!  I used such a pale blue for the bubbles, I thought it was missing something, so I added wink of stella then glossy accents.  Then those bubbles just popped off the paper!

MCT August Sneak Peek Day 1 ~ fangtastic!

Hey Hey Hey it's Monday and Day 1 of My Creative Time August Release Sneak Peek!   Today we are featuring a "fangtastic" stamp and die and a set of square stitched dies.  Isn't Dracula is too stinkin' cute!

I want to make some fun treat bags for coworkers, so I wanted to make one as a test.  Well I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.  Though I'm not sure this will be the one I'll go with.  I have to say that since you never know which of my coworkers will be lurking around here.  :)

First I stamped this fun image on my square, then I stamped it on a mask and cut it out.  Next I colored the dracula, then place the mask over the colored image.  Once I was sure the mask was securely attached, I inked the background with distress ink.  Using several colors of blue to create the depth.  After the background was dry, I added white gel "stars".

I just LOVE him!!!

MCT Trending Now: Emboss It ~ drop you a line!

Good Morning, it's Tending Now over at My Creative Time!  Today we featuring projects with some type of embossing.  Now we all know about embossing folders, but we've decided to take it beyond those folders.
When I first got my Big Shot it came with a rubber plate/mat and I had no idea what to do with it.  Then I finally figured out to use it to create embossed images with plates.  Well they are also good to use with dies to create embossed images.  Just another way to do more with what you already have!

Does that background paper look familiar?  Yep, it's the plaid I created the other day.

Welcome to Revel Day 2 of Newton's Nook Designs!  If you didn't see yesterday's post, I was asked to be the Guest Designer for August.  How fun is that!  Today we are reveling Tranquil Tides Stamp set.  The name says it all!

First I heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Once it was cooled then I used Distress Ink to watercolor over the embossed images.  After letting it dry, I added drops of glossy accents and sequins.

Oh did you figure out that I used the starfish in yesterday's project.  Yep, I used it on shrinky dinks and added it to the shaker card.  I love it when I can use my stamps to create something unexpected.

MCT Scrapping The Little Things ~ flip flop day!

Happy Monday!  Today I get to share my pocket style scrapbooking with you since it's Scrapping The Little Things over at My Creative Time.  If you seen my "scrapping" before, then maybe you've noticed that they are rarely journaled.  I do journal, it's just that tend to keep that private.  :)

This page is from my vacation to the Bahamas...oh I want to go back!!  After snorkeling , my husband and I found a hammock under two palm trees and fell asleep.  It truly was a great day!

To create the texture background behind the flip flops and some pictures, I used the textured surf board from Surf's Up stamp set.

That palm tree was my view while relaxing in the hammock.

MCT What A Treat ~ sweet baby!

Hi, today I wanted to share with you a gift card using that I made for my sweet nephew and his wife's new baby...and my first great nephew.  Yep, I'm a first time great auntie!
They live in Alaska so it's going to be awhile before I get to hold him :(
I'm so excited for my sister/brother in law for becoming first time grandparents!

I've been wanting to create my own plaid using stamps and finally had time to try.  First I gathered a bunch of my stamps that I thought would make cool lines and then narrowed the list down.  I used "streets", "paper lines", and other stamps that weren't made for this technique.  Just another way to get more out of your stamps :)  I used a large piece of paper, so you will be seeing another project with this same "background" paper.

MCT Favorite Stamp/Die Of The Month ~ happy birthday!

Howdy friends...or should I say bonjour!  Today is My Favorite Stamp/Die of the Month over at
My Creative Time.  This month it's Springtime in Paris stamp and die set!  I LOVE this set and I LOVE the technique I used to create my cards.

I created this card with a resist technique, using glossy cardstock, versamark ink and distress inks.  All you have to do is stamp in versamark ink, let dry then blend your colors.  Where ever you stamped versamark will resist the colored ink.  Oh so simple!

I had so much fun blending I had to create another card by making my own background paper!
