MCT May Release Blog Hop ~ I'd be lost without you!

Hi Everyone!  

WooHoo, we finally made it to Friday and to the My Creative Time May Release Blog Hop! Hasn't this release been super fun!  I know I've really enjoyed it!  You should have arrived here from Miss Emily's  blog.  If you just popped in to see me, then be sure to head over the Miss Emma's blog for the start!  You won't want to miss a thing since there are great prizes for the winner!!!  

 I'm going to keep this short since this a long hop...first I whitewashed the frame and let dry.  Then I stamped the image on to cardstock, before it dried, I simply took my paint brush and a small amount of water to manipulate the ink to look like water coloring.  Super fun and easy!!!  When all was dry, I fussy cut the light house and attached it and the banner to the frame and added a button with hemp!

MCT May Release Sneak Peek Day 3 ~ Some days are...

Woohoo, it's Day 3 of My Creative Time May Release Sneak Peek!  Whatcha think so far?  Awesome, right?!  Today we are featuring Anchors & Heart Dies, Make A Splash Die, and Hey Sailor Stamp Set.  So yes, it's another nautical set, don't let that throw you!  I think they could be used for so much more!  Also nautical doesn't always have to be red, white, and blue (even though I love those colors).

As you can see I went for non traditional nautical colors again.  Yet is still has a "water" feel to it, by simply using the Make A Splash die as an embosser and water coloring the heart and anchor dies.

I just couldn't leave well enough alone and had to add chunky glitter to the anchor, gotta have my bling!  lol

MCT May Release Sneak Peek ~ Dad!

Hey it's day 2 of My Creative Time May Sneak Peeks!  Didn't you just love what the girls on the Design Team shared yesterday?!!  I'm so happy to share with you my card made with Lost at Sea Stamp and Die set, and Stripey Background!  You'll will love all the fun "nautical" images!

So I wanted to create a card using non traditional nautical colors.  I first stamped the Stripey Background stamp with brown Memento Ink, then added the stamped light house on the die and attached it to the card base.  

If you look closely you can see that I added a thin bead of glossy accents to each of the stripes.  It gives it a lot of depth in person.

MCT May Release Sneak Peek ~ you are special!

 Well it's time again to share with you the My Creative Time May Release Sneak Peeks!!!  I thought it would never get here...we went a week later than usual, however it felt like FOREVER!!!!!  

Today we are "sneaking" Speech Bubble Sentiments w/die set, Bunch of fun circles, and Build a Scripty & Watercolor background!  You are going to love this new release and all the fun elements to make cards, layouts, and such!  If fact as I'm writing this I just visualized another project! 

For today's project I went with a CAS design...well as CAS as I am able to create!  lol! 

I used Tim Holtz distress ink for the background stamp to give it even a more weathered look.  

I used Stazon ink for the clear cardstock window.  

Since I've been playing with watercolors lately, I had to make another card just for fun.  I used Pretty Spring Wreath Stamp Set with Tim Holtz distress inks to create this watercolor effect.  I'm still not great at the stamping with the sides of a stamp.  The only way I can explain it is, to use the stamp like a paint brush.  Dabbing here and there.  But it's sooo fun to play and experiment with different looks!  I love how striking the black "you are amazing" die cut and stamp look on the the bright colors.

I added Wink of Stella shimmer to the flowers which didn't photograph well.

Happy Retirement!

Hello crafty friends, happy Friday!  I'm so excited since I have a four day weekend!  Next week we are going to a retirement party for a friend so I needed to make a card.  I've been playing some of the water color techniques from a recent class and came up with this.

The background is made with ink and an acrylic block...there's no wrong way to do it either!  I love that it's a great technique that can be used with any type of stamps, and masculine or femine cards.

After the water color background dried, I stamped the fish image from Peachy Keen and the sentiment from My Creative Time.  Let it sit for a while then splatter a bit of watered down ink.  The splattering gives the card some added depth.

MCT Thrity Thursday ~ Happy Birthday!

Happy Thursday!  Today is Thrift Thursday over at My Creative Time!  This is a great feature since it encourages the use of scraps and/or recycled items.  I love that!  As you can see below I went with scraps to create my card.

I used the Birthday Buddies Stamp Set...which I adore and don't use often enough.  I colored with Copic markers and Wink of Stella for added shimmer on the hat and leaves.

The fabbie thing about MCT stamps is that you can take a straight sentiment and curve it on your acrylic block, like I did for the bend in the circle.

PKS Trendpotting Vintage / Shabby Chic ~ Enjoy!

Hi my peachy friends!  Today is my turn to take over the Peachy Keen Blog for this week's Trendspotting feature ~ Vintage/Shabby Chic.  This look has been around for a long time and it's still going strong.  To which I'm very happy for :)

I'm excited to show you my project, but first I want to share something.  Years ago I was really into tole painting, pen and ink with watercolor and all things wood crafts.  In fact I used to make and sell all my goods at craft fairs and holiday boutiques.  At some point I had put my paint brushes away and started paper crafting, and never thought the two would ever meet.  Oh I was so wrong!  :)  I, along with a lot of other crafty friends from the craft community (maybe you too) took a watercolor class this past week.  Oh my goodness, the flood gates of my memory have opened up!  lol! 

Here's what I did with one of my favorite sets, a few stamp pads, and some water.

I first stamped my image with Stampin' Up ink then used a brush with some water to pull and soften the ink eges.  

 I hope you enjoyed my favorite new, "old" technique.

MCT Try Me Tuesday ~ Feathers!

Hi kiddos, it's Try Me Tuesday over at My Creative Time!  Today we were asked to try to make some handmade feather...yep, that's right handmade.  Well I decided that I had to add a real feather with it, just because :)

I first stamped the script background with verse mark and clear embossing powder.  Once it was cooled I gave it a water color wash of taupe.  Then I added my handmade and real feather.  I die cut and stamped the Eiffel Tower, flower and added some rhinestone to the centers.
